10,000 yr. old sandals found along with other artifacts-oldest ever found. There are no artifacts there now but site might be of interest. One of the sandals is at the U of O Museum of Natural History. This could be combined with geologic points of interest nearby and the Fort Rock Homestead Village Museum. Fort Rock: 40 miles north of Summer Lake; take Hwy. 31 to sign, travel about 8 miles east. Open Fri.-Sun., Memorial Day to Labor Day.
